Foundational Cutting Classes

One of our biggest goals when opening The Rare Bird has always been community. We’ve had such a blast hosting our craft nights for guests and neighbors, and now we’re excited to expand that same energy into the professional hair community in Alexandria.

Starting in January, we’ll be offering weekly drop-in classes at the salon—designed specifically for local stylists who want to strengthen their foundations, refresh their techniques, and connect with other professionals in the area.

These in-salon education sessions are perfect for stylists looking to:

• Revisit and refine foundational haircutting skills

• Understand the “why” behind technique choices to achieve consistent results

• Touch base on styling fundamentals that elevate every service

• Meet other DMV stylists who value education, growth, and community

Each class includes a 2.5-hour look-and-learn focused on a core, foundational haircut. Attendees will receive a visual booklet to follow along during the session, making it easy to absorb, reference, and put the concepts into practice.

Because foundational techniques cover a wide range of topics, we’ve broken the curriculum into individual sessions. Stylists can pick and choose the classes that best suit their goals and drop in whenever it fits their schedule.
