Air drying can feel like a bit of a wild card. Sometimes it works beautifully. Other times it leaves you wondering what went wrong. I hear it all the time. Clients want to embrace their natural texture but still feel polished. The good news is that it’s totally possible. You just need a couple of key adjustments to help guide your hair in the right direction.
The first tip is to focus on hydration. A lot of people think frizz just means your hair is "bad" or "unruly," but that is not the case. Most frizz comes from dryness. When your hair is dehydrated, it will pull moisture from the air around you. That is when frizz shows up and throws off your whole look. The simple fix is to apply a hydrating product before your hair starts to dry. Think of it like a barrier. It seals in the good stuff and protects against the outside elements. The result is a smoother, more controlled finish, even when you skip the heat tools.
The second tip is a little unexpected. Use a touch of heat at the end. I know, it sounds like cheating. But adding just a small amount of heat once your hair is already dry can make a huge difference. A quick pass with a diffuser, a rough dry at the roots, or even a few curls with an iron can lift your style and keep it from falling flat. That tiny bit of heat helps absorb excess oil and gives your hair more volume. The result is something that looks effortless but still feels intentional.
These two small changes can make a big impact. You do not need to overhaul your whole routine. Just hydrate well and finish with a little support. Your hair will thank you.
